IgA and IgG nephropathies are autoimmune conditions during which antibody immunoglobulin A/G (IgA/IgG) acts against your kidneys by clogging them. Normally this antibody is made by our body to fight against viral and bacterial infections, but due to some malfunctioning, it turns virulent. Such condition results in the inflammation of local Glomerular apparatus that filter wastes and remove extra fluid from the blood. These circumstances gradually affect our kidney’s ability to filter wastes from our blood and eventually lead to the end-stage kidney disease (ESRD). The visible symptoms are cola/ tea-colored urine, high blood pressure, swelling in your hands and feet, blood in the urine. It is an autoimmune disease; hence, the Ayurvedic therapy aims at pacifying the deranged Pitta Dosha and strengthening the immune system. IgA Nephropathy is a type of glomerulonephritis in which inflammation occurs. The basic cause behind it is Pitta Dosha, so,Sheeta Virya Dravyas and immuno-modulator formulations have been mentioned in Ayurveda in this condition.
