Ayurvedic concept of chronic kidney disease (CKD)
Chronic renal failure or CKD is a condition of slow, gradual, and progressive loss of kidney function over time. CKD encompasses all degrees of decreased renal functions that gradually lead to permanent kidney failure. Apparently, CKD often goes unattended until it enters a well-advanced stage (80% loss of kidney function). CKD could be caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, & faulty lifestyle. The major symptoms of CKD include swelling (lower body parts), frequent urination, & fatigue, panting etc. Ayurveda mentions the vitiation of Rakta and Meda Dhatus along with Apana Vayu imbalances as the root causes of CKD. According to the ancient texts, natural care of kidney health can positively influence the health of the kidneys. The natural ingredients of Ayurvedic herbs catalyze the impact of the natural remedies and patients, who are otherwise undergoing dialysis, start to show improvements. As a result, the frequency of dialysis decreases and gradually many patients may not have to go for dialysis.
Chronic kidney disease natural remedies
Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris): – Plant extracts of Gokshura inhibits the nucleation & growth of the calcium oxalate crystals as well as possess cyto-protective properties, it thus, enhances the detoxification of the kidneys & lowered down the serum creatinine levels in CKD.
Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa): – It can naturally maintain the homeostatic balance of body fluids by removing wastes out of the body.
