Migraine in Ayurveda: From Ayurveda perspective, migraine headaches are due to a disorder in tridosha – the mind-body constitution. Migraine is correlated with Ardhavabhedaka in which excruciating or piercing type of a headache felt in one-half of the head. It occurs due to an abnormality in Vata,Pitta, and Kapha Dosha. Pathya Ahara (Balanced Diet) and Vihara (Lifestyle) play an important role to maintain homeostasis of all Doshas and prevention of diseases. Irregular lifestyle plays a significant role in the precipitation of a migraine.

Depression in Ayurveda: In Ayurveda, a weak Sadhaka Agni is the inner fire, which is responsible for ‘digesting’ or processing emotions, is to blame for depression. A strong Sadhaka Agni can be linked to a high ‘Emotional Intelligence’ in the sense that you are conscious of your feelings. It’s a functioning connection between your heart and head with both centers sending the right signals to one another in a timely manner. Sadhaka Agni also influences neurohormones (hormones released by neuroendocrine cells). The neurohormones in the heart sends a signal to the brain to register the experience emotionally either as depressive or joyful, (or any emotion for that matter), depending on the strength of their Sadhaka Agni.
